Extension of 'E' Pontoon

An exciting new development is soon to take place at Haslar Marina, when 'E' pontoon is extended into water 6 metres below CD and then fitted with a new hammerhead section measuring some 95 metres. The piles for the extension will be driven in mid-May, with the final work to attach the new pontoons completed two to three weeks later. As with all Dean and Reddyhoff Marina pontoons, the new hammerhead will be fully serviced by electric and water. The development will enable Haslar to accommodate larger vessels with substantial draft and rallies throughout the year.

The Lifeboat Pub

Our waterside pub The Lifeboat at East Cowes Marina, is now being very successfully managed by well known yachting pub operator Chris Troup and his Coastal Inns & Taverns company.

Following the extensive £200,000 refurbishment by Coastal Inns & Taverns, The Lifeboat is now a very comfortable waterside pub and brasserie serving freshly cooked local produce at sensible prices. Visitors can relax and enjoy a well cooked meal in stylish surroundings with swift and attentive service.

The Lifeboat has plenty of space to cater for locals, holidaymakers and hungry yachtsmen even at the very height of the season. There is also a quiet sofa area for coffee, relaxation and newspaper reading.

During Cowes Week this year, the pub will again be offering breakfast every day, as well as a marquee with live music each evening.

Berth Holders Summer Bash

Following the much acclaimed 2007 Berth Holder Bash, a re-run will be taking place for 2008. Those of you who supported last years event will have enjoyed real ales, a sumptuous hog roast, the sounds of the Southern All-Stars Jazz combo and the buzzing atmosphere as everyone socialised with their fellow boaties inside the specially erected marquee. This year will follow the same format with the entry fee being donated to a charity yet to be announced. Last year, t he money raised by your contributions, together with that of Weymouth and East Cowes Marinas, was donated to Hayling Island SC, to be specifically used for the Thursday Junior Sailing Club. The funds, along with a further donation from D&R, managed to purchase 3 new RS Tera sailing dinghies for the benefit of local children. We hope that next year's event will be as enjoyable for all concerned!
